I would appreciate contributed code, but unfortunately nobody has yet
sent me anything ;)

There has been some reported success using lenses, AFAIR extracted from
old binoculars?

No progress, because I do not really like LIRC.  One could implement a
usb protocol supported by LIRC, that should not be so hard.

Yes, in the last weeks I implemented a few functions to do datamining on
received IR codes, but I need some more time to port that to the unzap.

If anyone is interested, the rumpus software repository[1] contains the code
in the ir-analyzer/ directory.
